Why am I being shocked (like its live) everytime I touch the lock/knob on the door in my motor home?
I have a 24′ 76 dodge motor home that I’ve been using as an office/haven to get away/relax- for the past 2 years. I ran an extension cord from the house to provide electricity. Its been raining like crazy lately and it did spring a minor leak in the top moon roof the other day. Ever since around that time when I go to open the door it litterally shocks the shit outta me! This only happens to me and no one else, but it’s a constant shock, like a live current. The whole door is metal but for some reason the only part that shocks me is the lock and knob- that I just happened to replace like 3 months ago. This has never happened before. Also, today, right after doing the dishes, I went to get in (my hands still wet) and it shocked me so bad that I litterally screamed. Does anyone know what the hell is happening? and is safe for me to be in here? HELP!!!
The leak in the roof has probably allowed water to reach and short out the internal electrical wiring. Your whole trailer is shorted and you need to disconnect the extension cord until it dries out. You should not reattach it unless you plug it into the house on a GFCI plug.
edit: I thought at first it might be static discharge but you said it’s a constant shock. This would not be static discharge but rather, shorted internal wiring. This is a very dangerous situation. DISCONNECT THAT EXTENSION CORD BEFORE THERE IS A FIRE OR ELECTROCLUTION!!!
